Seek and Find Or the Adventures of a Smart Boy edition by Oliver Optic Literature Fiction eBooks
I enjoyed this story although, unlike the G. A. Henty historical novels which I continue in my dottage to enjoy, (usually for very different reasons than I enjoyed them as a boy, this novel is still a bit too juvenile for my taste. There is a vit of a mystery here as well as adventure with cliff-hanging chapter endings. In this novel the "smart boy" is the hero. In the next novel in the series, which I reviewed previously, the "smart boy" is essentially the villain. In this novel the hero's intelligence is used to good purpose, because his smarts do not make him arrogant. If you continue to enjoy rereading the original Hardy Boy novels you will enjoy this novel.Product details

Seek and Find Or the Adventures of a Smart Boy edition by Oliver Optic Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Oliver Optic is not today's kind of author. His story's not only have morals, but they have morals repeated on practically every page and by practically every character. And the good characters are very good, and the bad characters... well, even the bad characters aren't that bad. They have more honor in their little finger than the average character in, say, `Twilight' or `Ella Enchanted'.
Not all of the morals are ones that moderns might agree with, either. Obedience versus having fun?
For those who can handle the antediluvian style, however, they might find in Oliver Optic something they can really enjoy a call to duty, to valor, to friendship, to loyalty, to perseverance, hard work.
Seek and Find sits more on the `mystery' side of Oliver Optic's books. The hero is an orphan but, this time, with an evil uncle to keep him company. Add in a couple of cute girls (not that Mr. Optic would call them that), one of them a damsel in distress, and you have one of Oliver's better books.
